The 2025 Hunan Provincial University Technology Transfer Index was recently released. Our University ranked 8th across the province and has held the top spot among peer institutions for three years.
The index was commissioned by the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, and developed by the Hunan Institute of Scientific and Technical Information. It is composed of six sub-indices—Research & Development investment, research output, industry-academia-research collaboration, technology transfer and transformation, income distribution from technology transfer, and transformation efficiency—with 13 secondary indicators, and regularly assesses 37 undergraduate universities in Hunan. The index aims to strengthen the application-oriented approach to technology transfer at universities, guide and promote the commercialization of university research outcomes within the province, and further enhance their contribution to Hunan’s economic and social development.
In recent years, Our University has actively promoted technology transfer, facilitated industry-academia-research collaboration, and contributed to local economic development. Through initiatives such as the “100 PhDs Providing Services for Enterprises” program and the science and technology commissioner scheme, the university has actively built platforms for industry-academia-research collaboration and encouraged faculty to engage in in-depth collaboration with enterprises. It has also explored a “use first, pay later” model for research outcomes to reduce enterprises’ transformation risks and accelerate the journey from laboratory to market, and has worked to build a team of technology managers to raise the professionalism of technology transfer services. Meanwhile, the university has issued a series of institutional documents, including measures for the management of technology transfer, established and improved incentive mechanisms, and enhanced its technology transfer service system, significantly boosting the vitality and efficiency of technology transfer.
Our university will continue to fully implement Hunan Province’s policies on promoting technology transfer at universities, further improve the institutional mechanisms for technology transfer, deepen collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research, and facilitate the commercialization of more high-quality research outcomes within the province, contributing greater strength to Hunan’s high-quality economic and social development.
