The Hunan Provincial Department of Education recently announced the list of supporting disciplines for leading industries approved for development. Four disciplines at our university were selected, placing the university among the top of peer institutions and marking a new step forward in its capacity to serve local industrial development.
The selected disciplines—Control Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Textile Science and Engineering—are closely aligned with the province’s leading industrial clusters, including construction machinery, new energy, and health care. Textile Science and Engineering, a distinctive strength of our university, draws on the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan textile and garment industrial cluster and has established long-term, in-depth partnerships with a number of leading enterprises. The discipline conducts collaborative research on key technologies such as new fiber materials, high-performance fabrics, and short-process and intelligent manufacturing, and has been selected as a “One City, One Industry” discipline.
Our university attached great importance to this provincial application. The Office of Discipline Development and Reform made coordinated arrangements and meticulous preparations, taking the lead in mobilizing relevant disciplines to apply. Taking this opportunity, the university will further optimize its disciplinary layout, deepen the integration of industry and education in collaborative talent cultivation, promote the organic linkage of the education chain, talent chain, industrial chain, and innovation chain, focus on cultivating high-quality engineering application-oriented talent, produce a batch of high-quality research outcomes, and contribute greater strength to the development of Hunan’s “4×4” modern industrial system.
