Recently, a project titled Key Technologies and Applications of Mathematical Model-Driven Scheduling Optimization for Smart Bus Cloud Platforms, led by Professor Pan Lijun from School of Business of our university, won the Third Prize of the Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. This marks a new step forward for the university in the interdisciplinary field of intelligent transportation optimization and management science.
The project was completed with our university as the first completing institution, in collaboration with Central South University and Hunan Changxing Traffic Wisdom Technology Co., Ltd. Addressing industry long-standing problems such as the reliance on manual scheduling, imbalanced capacity allocation, and delayed emergency response in traditional bus operations, the team built a technical system for smart bus cloud platforms driven by mathematical models, integrated multi-source traffic data, and developed a full-chain intelligent scheduling solution, achieving key technological breakthroughs in high-precision passenger flow forecasting and multi-constraint collaborative scheduling.
The technology has now been applied at multiple bus companies in Hunan Province, driving the digital and visual transformation of bus scheduling operations. Actual operating data shows that the platform effectively reduces the manual workload of scheduling, improves vehicle punctuality, and shortens passenger waiting times during peak hours. While enhancing the public travel experience, it also helps enterprises reduce operating costs, achieving both economic and social benefits.
This award is a phased achievement of our university’s efforts to serve the local economy and advance interdisciplinary integration. The university will continue to deepen research breakthroughs, promote the application and commercialization of more research outcomes, and contribute our strength to the region’s high-quality development.
