From August 24 to 28, the finals of the 8th National College Young Teachers’ Teaching Competition were held at Shandong University. The competition was co-hosted by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the Ministry of Education, and co-organized by the National Committee of the Chinese Educational, Scientific, Cultural, Health and Sports Workers’ Union and the Teacher Affairs Department of of the Ministry of Education.
Dai Yidan, a faculty member from School of Computational Science and Electronics of our university, won the Third Prize in the Science Group. This is the second time our university has reached the podium at this national-level teaching competition, following its first breakthrough in 2024.
The National College Young Teachers’ Teaching Competition, with “teaching one course well” as its core philosophy, is held every two years and comprises three parts: teaching design, classroom teaching, and teaching reflection.
The competition was conducted at three levels — university, provincial, and national. A total of over 260,000 young teachers from nearly 1,800 universities across the country participated. The competition featured five groups: Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, Medicine, and Ideological and Political Theory Courses. A total of 160 outstanding young teachers from 153 universities across 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps competed in the national finals.
In the finals, Dai Yidan was assigned to teach infinite improper integrals from the chapter on “Definite Integrals” in Advanced Mathematics. She began the class with the deep-space signal transmission challenges of China’s Chang’e lunar exploration and Tianwen Mars mission, closely integrating mathematical principles with aerospace engineering. During her teaching, she skillfully incorporated the value of “serving the country through science and technology” and used an AI-powered teaching assistant to facilitate human-computer collaborative interaction, effectively addressing teaching difficulties and demonstrating outstanding classroom management skills.
Behind this outstanding achievement was the collective support of the entire university. During the preparation period, the Academic Affairs Office meticulously organized multiple rounds of teaching seminars and mock drills, repeatedly refining key aspects such as teaching design and classroom presentation. The University Trade Union and the School of Computational Science and Electronics provided full service and support throughout the process, creating favorable conditions for her to prepare with peace of mind. From standing out in the university-level competition, to excelling in the provincial competition, and to delivering a steady performance on the national stage, Dai Yidan demonstrated with her strength the commitment and excellence of a young faculty member.
This award is another achievement of our university’s continued efforts to strengthen the teaching capacity of young faculty members. Taking this as a new starting point, the university will leverage the exemplary and leading role of outstanding teachers, promote teaching reform and innovation, and inspire more young faculty members to devote themselves to education, contributing HIE’s strength to improving the quality of talent cultivation and building a strong education nation.
